Bonin Architects – New London Lakefront Home – Construction Progress
By Jeff Trovato, E.I.T.
We worked with Bonin Architects to develop a structural design for a new lakefront home in New London, NH. This particular home has a unique roof shape that we wrote about in our blog earlier this year. (Link). Recently We got the chance to visit the site to see how construction was progressing.
We were amazed by the building site—it is simultaneously very private yet allows for panoramic views of the lake. We designed steel moment frames to accomplish these large lakeside windows, one of the first elements assembled following concrete foundations. In addition, the first floor is very open on the lakeside. To achieve these floor spans, we needed to use steel beams. We were impressed with the builder, Granite Roots Construction, who is confidently constructing modern structural details and energy-efficient assemblies.
We are looking forward to seeing this one when it’s finished!
