Combining Living and Working Space

By John Turner, P.E.

When I first saw the architectural plans for renovations to this property at 135 North State Street, Concord, NH, I did a double take.  It has an eclectic mix of offices, conference rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms.  I have come to better understand that this will provide incredible living and working opportunities for young professionals.

We were asked to provide an electric design for the main house and we have since provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the carriage house.

Fast forward a year and COVID hits.  Suddenly the idea of working at home became normal, and the concept of a live-work environment makes a whole lot more sense.  My appreciation for this interesting economic model is growing.  This is an amazing facility that has been incredibly renovated.  (We’ll share the “after” picture soon!  Keep reading our blogs!)

Charles Wood at Colonial Builders gets the credit for keeping this project rolling.  Mr. Wood is simply fantastic to work with.  He is pleasant, reasonable and exudes gratitude.  We hope to do many more projects with Colonial Builders.

When thinking about your next project, how can our design team help you with your Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineering needs?
