Project Description
Daniel Whiteknact, a professional painter, approached us with an exciting project: the renovation of his art studio. With experience painting in diverse locations nationwide, Daniel drew inspiration from a specific studio that boasted a large dormer and a distinctive feature window, highlighting the significance of north light from above. For over 500 years, traditional painters have relied on north light for optimal illumination. Daniel expressed his desire for our designers to replicate the ambiance of 19th-century Parisian studios, renowned for their adherence to this lighting standard.
The original structure presented challenges with its low ceilings and limited natural light. Our team devised a solution that not only incorporated Daniel’s requested feature window but also transformed the space visually by introducing a cathedral ceiling. This structural overhaul required the integration of new elements into the existing wood-framed building while fortifying the existing framework.
Under the skilled craftsmanship of Dube’s General Contracting, the design vision came to life seamlessly. The client’s reaction surpassed expectations, as Daniel found himself presented with a newly renovated art studio that exuded comfort and charm. Now, he can unwind, paint, and draw inspiration from the scenic surroundings, thanks to the ample natural light flooding the space.
