Project Description

Located on the outskirts of downtown Concord, this project was the vision of Cedar Mill Group. This detached guesthouse contains a (3) car garage, personal gym, and upper story living quarters, including a golf simulator. The building also features a large open cupola for natural light and cathedral ceilings over the stairs.

The complexity of the original design was cost prohibitive to the desired budget. Through collaboration with Cedar Mill, we were able to value engineer the structure and simultaneously keep the client’s “needs” integrated into the building.

Our design was a platform framed constructed building, using a combination of conventional lumber, engineered wood, and trusses. Foundations were designed in reinforced concrete. Portions of the framing were initially conceptualized in steel, but ultimately, the design was modified to avoid additional costs. What a great project to
collaborate on, and we hope the client enjoys their new sanctuary.
