Areas of Expertise John Turner is a Multi-Discipline (Architectural and Electrical) Licensed Professional Engineer working primarily in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, specializing in building technology and construction. He is also a Board Certified Building Inspection Engineer.
As President of Team Engineering, John has diverse experience in all facets of construction. His specialties include residential and commercial inspection, structural and other engineering design, energy-efficiency, renovation consulting, condominiums/association properties and forensic engineering. John provided these services as a franchise engineer from 1993 until 2012. In 2012, the company elected to go independent and formed Team Engineering. Qualifications Our company has provided inspection and consulting services on over 10,000 buildings in the last 20 years. John provided similar services working for Lalancette Engineers in Vermont. John gained practical insight working as a Construction Foreman for years. John serves as a call Firefighter in Amherst and served as the Assistant Building Inspector in Dunbarton. John also worked for Bangor Hydro-Electric Company in Bangor, Maine and for Texas Instruments. He built his own family home in 1999, and has led six major building renovations for his family and the business.
Education John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine (1988). He earned his initial PE license through his engineering work in Massachusetts starting in 1990. By 2004, John completed studies to earn his Architectural Engineer’s License (NH PE #8908, MA#50175).

Nancy obtained her registration as a Professional Engineer in New Hampshire twenty (20) years ago. In addition, Nancy is an Accredited Professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This achievement allows Nancy to certify a building’s performance and compliance with LEED standards, an international benchmark for design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
Since 2008, Nancy has responsible for conducting commercial property condition assessments, residential home inspections, limited evaluations, structural inspections, structural designs, building energy performance evaluations and other special engineering studies & assessments. In addition, Nancy is responsible for design & implementation of ice dam mitigation measures of large upscale condominium complexes. Further, Nancy provides litigation support on a wide range of issues including drainage, hydrology and retaining wall design.
Prior to working at Team Engineering (formerly Criterium-Turner Engineers), Nancy worked in the field of geo-environmental consulting, assisting clients in managing their environmental liabilities while providing safe living and working environments. She has performed hundreds of Environmental Site Assessments on properties ranging from shopping malls, to automotive service stations, to individual facilities. She has worked with a wide range of client-types ranging from developers, architects and attorneys, to municipalities and regulators. She was responsible for the development and implementation of projects, and oversight of contractors and junior professional staff.
Her engineering career has provided experience in the design and construction of foundations, subsurface geotechnical and environmental investigations, environmental site assessments, environmental risk assessments, indoor air quality evaluations, remedial design and implementation, and litigation. She has performed investigation to closure of petroleum and hazardous waste sites, solid waste facilities, and Brownfield sites. A number of these included assessment and abatement of asbestos and hazardous building materials.

Dan Martel PE
Areas of ExpertiseAs the Senior Structural Engineer at Team Engineering, Dan leads the technical efforts of Team’s structural design staff. Dan provides oversight and Quality Assurance, acting as the Engineer of Record on most of Team’s structural projects.
QualificationsOur company has provided inspection and consulting services on over 10,000 buildings in the last 20 years. Dan specializes in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing and historic buildings, and also has extensive experience in bridge repair and design.
His portfolio includes the rehabilitation of multiple mill buildings in Lawrence, Massachusetts, bringing historic structures into modern code compliance. Dan has also designed retro-fits of existing buildings, accommodating medical office, restaurant, retail, and industrial uses. He has also designed, inspected, and repaired dozens of bridges throughout New England, working for State and Municipal bridge owners. Dan has performed commercial structural Property Condition Assessments on both sides of real estate transactions.
Dan started his career working seven years for a multi-disciplinary firm where he gained comprehensive planning, designing,and construction experience. Dan assisted public and private clients in transportation planning, highway design, site development, building design, and bridge design. In that time he completed numerous commercial building designs and rehabilitations, including new grocery stores throughout New England and underpinning a 10-story hotel building in Washington, DC. He also had regular exposure to active building and bridge construction, collaborating with contractors to develop buildable solutions for challenging structural scenarios. For three years before joining Team, he worked at a firm working almost exclusively on intermediate and complex bridge designs, expanding and enhancing his structural analyses capabilities.
Dan is fluent in the most current structural design softwares and CAD programs, serving clients using today’s standards for engineering.

Areas of ExpertiseBrian joined Team Engineering in September 2013. Currently, he is responsible for majority of the structural evaluations for residential and commercial clients. Brian has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in 2012 and his background includes approximately (4) years of engineering experience (and growing). He is currently approved to take the upcoming Professional Engineering Exam for his professional license.
Brian’s work includes plan reviews, beam calculations, computer-aided drafting (CAD), architectural/structural design, construction monitoring, and many more engineering services to complete any construction project from start-to-finish. With his architectural background, Brian has the capabilities to design and draft many residential structures, including attached garages, additions,and complete residential building designs. He is also responsible for on-site structural consultations, which include evaluating the structural integrity of existing buildings, possible settlement issues with floors or walls, cracks in foundations,and the assessment of load bearing walls.
Prior to working at Team Engineering, Brian gained valuable experience from a small engineering and surveying firm. During this time, he performed engineering consultation services as well as gained experience in the field of land surveying. This experience included deed research, property surveys, drafting of site plans, and the laying of monuments.

Brian Hansen Project Manager
Brian Hansen has over 25 years experience in the construction industry including commercial, residential, and municipal projects. His construction career started when he was 14-years old helping his dad frame custom homes on Cape Cod. Brian attended Keene State College and then the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he studied business and organizational psychology. After graduation, he gained significant experience restoring historic buildings around the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina.
In 2001, Brian and his family moved to New Hampshire where he started a hazardous materials company that specialized in mold remediation. This company provided HAZMAT removal services as well as a full suite of building envelope diagnosis & forensic services to fix the source of the problem- not just the symptoms. Over the next 8 years, Brian’s company performed over 500 projects including comprehensive turn-key projects for residential and commercial clients from Maine to New Jersey. In that same time, Brian’s company was nominated for several small business excellence awards, they won consumer service awards, and they maintained an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Since 2010, Brian has focused his time and energy on successfully developing real estate and rehabbing buildings for a private real estate portfolio. In this time, he also kept busy as an expert witness in multiple cases involving building failures and comprehensive structural repairs.

Eric has been affiliated with Team Engineering since the fall of 2014. Eric has been involved in a wide range of projects, to include: Reserve Studies for condominium complexes, structural evaluations of buildings ranging from single and multi- family residences to conversion of an old school to residential apartments, as well as damage assessments from the severe weather conditions experienced last winter.
Previously, he was a full-time Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with the Goffstown Fire Department since 1988. He has experience in building construction, NFPA Life Safety Code and New Hampshire fire codes and standards. As an Officer in the Department since 2004, Eric performed building inspections for Occupancy Permits, installations of mechanical systems, and life safety.
Areas of ExpertiseWith his experience in the fire service, Eric offers insight to fire and life safety considerations of building layout and construction. Eric provides a unique perspective on building design and construction given his firsthand knowledge of how extreme conditions such as fire, snow and ice loads can impact and overload building systems. He recently attended a week long seminar at the National Fire Academy focused on improving the response to hazardous situations in our schools.
Eric has hands-on experience in building construction such as interior renovations, framing, roofing and siding methods. In addition, while performing inspections of buildings, Eric has been able to observe most aspects of the construction process. He has had access to a wide range of buildings including residential and commercial properties, as well as industrial facilities. With a well-developed working knowledge of code references such as NFPA Life Safety 101 and the State Fire Code, he performed occupancy inspections and mechanical equipment installation inspections.
In addition to his duties as a firefighter and EMT, Eric was responsible for creating the Fire Department’s computer network. Computer technology has greatly impacted the ability of firefighters to operate safely at emergency scenes with data from pre-fire planning documents and integration of available property information, such as assessor property record databases and hazardous material reporting . Having current and accurate building data is vital to the successful mitigation of an emergency incident.
Eric resides in Goffstown, NH with his wife and his three children. He thoroughly enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, kayaking and sailing. As an avid hiker, Eric is pursuing completion of the 4000 foot peaks in New Hampshire. He is an active member of his church, and served as a vestry member for 6 years. Eric has served on the Town of Goffstown Wellness Committee and Computer Development Committee. He is a member of the International Association of Firefighters, Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire, Professional Firefighters of Goffstown and the Goffstown Fire Rescue Association.

Luke Martin Home Inspector
Luke Martin is an experienced home renovator. For the past 15 years, he has been working in the family real estate business (2.5 million dollars in holdings). The business specializes in purchasing undervalued real estate and renovating it into rental property that is managed and held for the long term. Luke’s roles in the company have included assessment and purchase of buildings and land as well as management of business finances including capital, revenue and expenses.
The renovation projects have included: basic cosmetic upgrades, raising roofs, adding second stories, total rewiring, installing new heating system (including radiant heat), installing septic systems, landscaping and reinsulating buildings to current R-value standards. Luke’s has been the builder and project coordinator. In order to increase his understanding, he supports and assists the licensed and skilled tradespeople.
Qualifications: Having seen homes in all stages of deconstruction/construction, Luke understands the home construction process and how individual home systems are installed, function together and are maintained.
With over 15 years of golf course experience, Luke is also able to view the landscape with a trained eye. Drainage, lawncare, landscaping, planting and plant/tree selections are critical to properly maintaining a home. Luke helps our Home Inspection clients visualize and understand this side of home maintenance and ownership.
As a highly trained ski instructor, Luke has learned that teaching skiing is only “part of his job.” He also needs to work with and manage the group with whom he is skiing. When working as a home inspector, Luke’s group may consist of the Buyer(s), Buyer’s Agent, Seller(s),and Seller’s Agent. His ability to work with and manage groups is an extremely valuable asset, as he performs home inspections and works with all parties involved.
